Sarees for Diwali: The Festival of Light

Diwali is the festival of light. It is precisely the time when we celebrate the winning of Good over Evil. It is on this day that Raja Ram Chandra returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. To commemorate this occasion, we decorate the house and surroundings with light, in a similar manner as Ayodhya-vasis decorated Ayodhya when Ram-Chandra returned.

But is any amount of decoration complete without decking up your own self? No right? So, gives you a fashion update, we are here with yet another blog that will tell you all there is about the latest DIWALI SAREES.

Colour of Diwali Sarees

The first thing that one notices about a saree is its colour. Well, the best and the latest colour for Diwali is gold, mustard, white, beige, peach, and lavender. If you love deep colours, then you can experiment with various shades of red. Other exciting colours that are in this season are fuchsia, purple, rust, teal, grey, and turquoise.

Draping Style

As saree is an unstitched cloth, it gives you a lot of options for draping. Also, it is your draping style that will decide the chic-factor in your overall look. An ill-draped saree looks clumsy and tacky. So, the first thing you need to do is drape the sari well, irrespective of the style you choose.

Now, talking about the style, you can go classy and drape the sari in the Bengali style, aka- ''the dola re style''. Or you can drape your saree dress with a front pallu.

However, if you are so not into draping, then there are semi-stitched saris that cut all the hard-work and enable you to get ready within minutes.

The Fabric of Diwali Saree

Many women think that it is only the embellishments and the colour of the sari that matters. But you could not have been more wrong. The fabric definitely decides the way a saree sits on you and the way the pleats fall on your body.

Nets and chiffons have been worn to death. This season try wearing classic silk on Diwali. However, if silk is a tad bit heavy on your pockets, you can also settle for silk blend. Other fabrics that are doing the rounds are linen and georgette.

Prints and embellishments of Diwali Sarees

Nothing beats a monochrome sari with a contrasting or zari border. It looks very sophisticated. But this style is undoubtedly not for newly wedded brides. If you want to do the traditional sola-Srinagar on this Diwali, make sure that your Diwali saree has a hint of gold.

Butta work decides the look of the sari. If you are a curvy woman, it is best to avoid big butta work and settle for smaller buttas. If you are a petite woman, then you can go for large butta work to make your gait look a little voluminous.

Alternatively, mirror works are very in this season. If you can get your hands on a Diwali sari with mirror work, then buy it. Mirror work Diwali saris have a very festive look that enthrals all and brings out your femininity in the best possible way.

Style of Blouse for Diwali Sari Dress

Please do not, I repeat do not wear a blouse with a round neck just because your ancestors did! Instead, choose the neck style according to the shape of your face. If you have a square jawline, stick to V-necks. If you have a round face, then a square or temple shaped blouse will go best with your Diwali sarees.

A Line to Conclude

Most importantly, no matter what you wear, do not forget to enjoy yourself and be comfortable in what you wear.
